Google Scholar and OCLC combine

Stuart Weibel entertained us with stories last Saturday in class and mentioned a cool feature resulting from work between Google Scholar and OCLC. Google Scholar has implemented a new feature that allows you to find a book at your local library. There was a Google blog entry today from Christian DiCarlo about it too.

OCLC Search

When Google Scholar finds a reference to a book, there will "Library Search" link included.

Clicking on that link will take you to the OCLC WorldCat site. This is where you enter your zip code, postal code, province or state to find the book at a library close to you.

Here's where it gets really cool. The results page will take you to that book entry where you can then check it out...and then read it.
