Apple Dual G5 and Notes

I just came back from the lab testing the latest Lotus Notes client installation files on our network apps server. The Windows install test was uneventful and rather boring compared to the Mac test. Sitting there unused was a Dual 2GHz, 4GB memory, 160GB drive, ATI 9800, 23" Display with 10.3.1 just asking for a copy of Lotus Notes on it. The install speed was remarkable. I've never seen the install screens so...BIG. I had to turn my head to read the screen.

The crash trying to start Notes was horrific. I had to complete my test on a barely adequate G5 1.8GHz, 1 GB memory, 160GB drive, Nvidia GeForce 5200FX with 10.3.1 and a 17" monitor. How can I work under these conditions after experiencing the Dual 2GHz beauty? I'm 2 for 3 getting Notes running under 10.3.

A nice surprise under 10.3 is Grab now creates TIFF files instead of PDF's.

I'm running 10.2.8, and Grab has always produced TIFFs for me! As for Notes... just about to try and install 6.5 again. Should be fun.

Hey! You're right. I'm running 10.2.8 too and Grab is creating TIFF's now.

Grab has always created TIFF. It is Command-Shift-3 and -4 that create PDF.

Oh! It's all so clear now. When I first got my Mac, I did a Google on screen capture short cut, or something like that and I saw how to do Command-Shift. I just happened to start Grab on the big machine to see what it would do. That's funny.
